Psychodynamic psychotherapy is an explorative approach that can help you become more aware of the processes which contribute towards emotional issues and relationship difficulties. This sometimes involves thinking about how previous experiences can repeat in different ways and can continue to influence present day feelings and behaviours. Developing an understanding of this can help reduce psychological suffering and create opportunities for meaningful change, whether it be in personal relationships, at work, or in the way you perceive yourself . Sessions are 50-minutes long and take place on a once or twice weekly basis. Treatment is open ended.
Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) is a brief and effective time-limited psychodynamic model, originally developed to treat depression. Following an initial assessment, the main treatment consists of 16 sessions that take place on a once weekly basis. The therapeutic process involves 3 phases that focus on a repeating relational pattern that contributes towards depression and anxiety. Learning about these patterns can allow for new and healthier ways of being in relationships.
If you are interested in psychodynamic psychotherapy or DIT, the next step would be to book an initial consultation session to explore the issues that have brought you to therapy and to think about whether treatment could be of help to you.
